Decent service, minor issues

I bought an annual subscription for HD video clips for my small business. The selection is good, and the quality of the videos is generally high. Downloading was easy once I got the hang of it. My only gripe was that some of the search results felt a bit repetitive, and it took a little while to find exactly what I needed. Customer service was helpful when I asked about usage rights, though. Good value for money, but the search could be more refined.

Consistent and reliable

I've been using iStock for years now, mostly for their Essentials collection photos and some vector graphics. This time I picked up a monthly subscription to get some social media graphics and a few infographics. Just like my previous orders, everything was consistent. The download process is always fast, and the quality is reliably good. It's why I keep coming back. Never had any major issues, and their library keeps growing which is a plus.

Good quality, easy to use

I purchased a credit pack last week to download some stock photos for a new project. The website layout was clear and finding the right images was pretty straightforward using their search filters. I downloaded a few lifestyle photos and some abstract backgrounds. The image quality was excellent, high resolution, and just as described. I had a small question about licensing, and their customer support responded to my email within a few hours with a clear explanation. Overall, a smooth experience from start to finish.

Trying to decide between iStock and Shutterstock for my marketing stuff. Anyone have experience with both and can say which one is better for general business images?

K Kate 2 weeks ago
I've used both. iStock's Signature collection images are often higher quality and more unique, but Shutterstock has a massive library. Depends on if you need quantity or more curated stuff.

Honestly, iStock often feels a bit more curated, especially their 'Signature' stuff. Shutterstock has more variety but sometimes it's like digging through a lot of average photos to find a gem.

Can I use a promo code if I'm already subscribed to iStock and just want to renew my plan? Or is it only for new subscriptions?

P Phil Okafor 1 month ago
Pretty sure most promo codes are for new subs or credit packs, not renewals. I tried once and it didn't work for my existing plan.

D Dan P. 1 month ago
Usually no, coupons don't work on renewals. They want new customers or folks buying new credit packs. Check the fine print on any code you find.

My promo code isn't working at checkout. Any common reasons why it might be failing? Is there a trick to where you enter it?

O Omar E. 4 weeks ago
Are you sure it's not expired? Also, make sure you're putting it in the right box at the very end of checkout. And only one code per purchase usually.

Could be expired, or maybe it's for a different plan type. Make sure you're applying it right before you finalize the payment, that's where the promo code box is.

What's the deal with the 'Essentials' vs 'Signature' collections? Is 'Signature' really that much better to justify the higher cost?

B Brett Kim 1 month ago
Signature is definitely more exclusive and usually higher quality, more unique images. Essentials is more your standard stock photo stuff, still good but you see it more places.

T Tom 1 month ago
Signature images are usually less generic and more artistic. If you want something that stands out, it's worth it. Essentials is fine for basic blog posts or social media.

Quick question about the credits. If I buy a credit pack, do those credits eventually expire or can I just hold onto them forever?

C Colin Foster 1 month ago
They do expire, I think after a year or something? It's in their FAQs. Not forever sadly.

L Laura Foster 1 month ago
Nah, credits definitely expire. Make sure you use 'em up before the date listed, usually 12 months after purchase.
